KALIMPONG, June. 15 — The second day of indefinite strike was observed here at the UBKV on the issue of appointments.
Accusing the state government of nepotism, the branch committee of the GNLF called for a total strike in all the three regional research stations of UBKV at Seed Farm, Dalapchand and Pedong.
The GNLF affiliated Karmachari Sansad , a committee of local youths , also accused the head of the institution of conducting unfair examination.
Members of the sansad, Mr John Mukhiya, said that outsiders have been preferred for vacant posts at the UBKV. “They have violated the norms set by the state.”
Seniors of the sansad also held some of the officials for accepting bribes at the time of examination.
According to the sansad, the posts of six project scientists have all been filled by Bengalis. “Besides none of the staff, presently engaged at the stations ,were preferred for the other four vacancies,” general secretary of the branch committee , Mr Prakash Dahal, said. Rejecting all these accusations, the staff said that he has been in constant touch with the VC to resolve the present
deadlock.
