Rains & slips block NH 31A once more

Likhubir, Aug. 14: Triggered by incessant rains, a massive landslide on National Highway 31A — the route connecting Siliguri to Kalimpong and Sikkim — has stalled traffic movement since last night.
A rubble pile-up spread across more than 130 m here, 21 km from Kalimpong, has forced drivers to take the alternative route via Lava to reach Siliguri. (more…)

GNLF strike halts life in Pedong

KALIMPONG, August. 12. — As a mark of protest against the functioning of Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidlaya (UBKV) a 12-hour strike was called by the GNLF today at Pedong, around 22 kilometres from here. Attendance was low at schools and offices. All vehicular movement came to a standstill. (more…)

PDF to go ahead with Pedong meet
