Kalimpong, Sept. 23: Prashant Tamang had a victory song dedicated to him a day before he was crowned the new Indian Idol.
“Ayo changba ayo, changbaley mitho gayo/Ayo changba ayo, changba idol bhayo (Here comes the youngest one, he sings so sweetly/Here comes the youngest one, wearing the Idol’s crown),” runs the chorus of the song, Timinai Indian Idol (You are the Indian Idol).
The single-track video CD was released by a group of musicians here last night.
Bipin Syangden, who penned the lyrics, said Prashant has brought enormous joy to the Gorkha people. “The song celebrates that joyous spirit,” he said, quoting the English lines of the bilingual song: “Sing a song of cheer, happy days are here again.”
In keeping with the mood here, music composer Manoj Tamang has come up with peppy a mix of rock and Nepali folk for the song. The beat of madal provides the folk element in the music, as Kiran Chettri, the song’s arranger, explained.
Thupden Bhutia has sung the song while a few local schoolgirls have lent their voices in chorus. The song has been produced by Nexus Creative Media Partner.

hey kalden and navin, by the the word ‘we’ i mean to say the whole of kalimpong, darjeeling etc. look at our economy. do we have surplus to spend money on 7 crore votes thru SMS… yes, we have! but why didn’t we use that money for something productive, like helping those affected by land slides. what will prashant bring by winning the contest?? the answer is ‘fifteen minutes of fame’ for the hills…thats all . nothing else is going to improve…we are not goin to have better roads or our water problems are not gonna go away … so what has he really achieved for us???
navin… let me tell you many people were asked to contribute for prashant, they didnot give it on their ‘own will’!

First My big CONGRATS to Prashant for making us all proud…But I do agree on the part that Angela tried to focus on the practical situations of Kalimpong. What abt those who are suffering from the recent flood? and I was shocked to learn the landslide took place just above Pranami Mandir School…Mr. Navin, your house is also in Tirpai and very close to the place that landslide took place, if i m not mistaken…..so mere showering with little bit of boasting to Angela is not the remedy… The trees of the forest are being chopped everyday by unscrupulous elements and are being sold in black market. The climatic condition of this cold place once has changed too. I appreciate Angela’s thought for a very genuine cause….So it is time we should wake up and take some stern measures before any severe natural calamity (God forbid) targets this small town in days to come.

….and all of a sudden the natural disaster that took place in our home town due to “people” who lives there became the responsibility of Mr.Prashant Tamang’s win ?? We should have thought all this long before the Indian Idol have even started, where were we when that horrific 1968 landslide disaster took place…?? why do we mix entertainment with Mother Nature’s fury? We are not government less & we should be able to voice this on political forum through our leaders through proper channel…
And I don’t think seven crore vote was voted for Prashant only I guess less than half belongs to runner up also…
Cheer up guys its not gonna take us anywhere as I have seen Siliguri-Tista Road the main artery NH-31 of North east India gets swept every year eversince I have known the name “Likhu Bhir” but until now nobody dares to raise their voice in the Parliament yet, so whom you gonna blame? that poor guy who have won the Idolship lately?

Can wewe keep this forum clean from politics?
September 27th, 2007 at 1:25 am
yes, let’s not bring politics into the frame.to help someone affected by landslides can be done without political interference.what i am try to say is, when someone loses a their belongings due to some calamity there are very few people who come forward to help rebuild that person’s life. at that time where does the money and compassion of the people disappear??
September 27th, 2007 at 5:49 am
i just wanted to say CONGRATS to Prashant Tamang. All the best wishes for his future. God bless him. I agree with Pem bhutia , Angela and Navin also because everyone has given their own point of view and i think we should listen to everyone’s point of view right? i don’t think this website is owned by one person only right?? so for me everyone whoever have expressed their feelings or who have given comments in the above lines are true on their own point of view. So my dear Mister Navin Prakash Gurung please try to listen to others point of view also la. see Navin i think you are the oldest on this website so please try to respect the comments given by young ones also la. ‘ok’ bhanda tapailai k huncha huh? just leave it Navin. so please don’t lengthen this issue further. i hope you understood Navin. so be calm and cool and be happy and lets be happy for Prashant’s victory. God bless you all.
peace peace peace

let’s be happy for prashant and for a moment ,put him aside.i have not really got a satisfactory answer to the questions i have posed about why do only a few people turn up to help those in NEED ??why can’t we suuport a financially handicapped child to study or help someone who has lost his belongings due to natural calamities?? why are ‘we’ tight fisted when it comes to REALLY HELPING & SUPPORTING THOSE IN NEED?? Where does the UNITY,COMPASSION, SUPPORT AND the money go for these PRIMARY AND REAL reasons??
September 28th, 2007 at 3:49 am
Angela I agree with you. Yes we would like to help them, infact some people have also helped the homeless whose houses were burnt by fire in Darjeeling few months. So dont worry more people will come forward in future. I am sure they will come. I would like to help if possible.
Thank you
September 28th, 2007 at 8:55 am
Well, the charity begins at home so Angela why don’t you start doing something for the project and we will definately support the cause & help you out like we did when several houses caught fire in Darjeeling & we chipped in whatever we could afford….do you remeber that ?

Is there any other topics leaving politics, money and donation aside.
I have seen a lot of projects and people who talks about fund raising but all goes to pocket so it would be better not to talk about any doantion.
Sabai khai deu haru ho.
October 9th, 2007 at 4:12 am
well, mr dulal you are partly correct. people who collect donations pocket some money but not all are the same .there are a few genuine people who receive donations and also donate from their side for various causes.
