For now, I will not maintain a gallery of Kalimpong (hills) related photographs on this site.
kalimpong.info now has a Picasa Web Gallery. There are a few albums online now and hopefully we can increase the collection of photographs in this gallery.
Instead Also, I’ll try and add as many links to other online picture collections.

HeLLo Kalimpong.
I was born and raised in kalimpong, but currently live in Taiwan. I left kalimpong back then in 1988 when i was still in my teens and was an active football player then. My name is POWFA, and i guess many people still remember me. Back then in my glory days, i represented kalimpong football team and played many games in various places, like darjeeling, siliguri, shillong and orissa. Though now i m in my early 40’s i am still playing football and hope to be able to visit kalimpong soon and be able to step into Mela ground (the play ground that has so much of old memories). Lastly i like to wish “KALIMPONG” warm wishes and a HAPPY NEW YEAR..

Hello everyone,
Greetings from London. It’s so nice to see some glimpse of Kalimpong after a long time. I really missed it. I studied in St. George’s School, Pedong and after that I joined Kalimpong Government College; those were the days I still remember all my pals. All the reminiscences are still vivid. Is there anyone who still remembers me? If so, then you can reach me at rajen_mukhia@hotmail.com

May 15th, 2007 at 1:55 pm
Hello Sibani, I cant recall you with the nameyou listed in this site. Maybe you can refresh my mind with some other old memories. About the white sun glass that sent shiver thru the nerves of many Girls high school gals….Well, well well. That sun glass was just an ordinary shade that happen to be white n the lens turned out to be dark lens, which seem to be a perfect combination of a x-ray shade look alike… hahaha.. Anyway it was fun but turning back to think of those days, it was so funny n stupid. I was also approached by a police officer in motorstand and asked about that shade n he put it on to make sure that it was just an ordinary shade… Isnt that hilirious!!
May 25th, 2007 at 9:11 am
Hey Powfa,
wats going on ? you don’t answer my e-mails buddy?
That’s ok as long as you remember good old friends. Other day i was watching full version of Kalimpong’s 2005 Independence day ceremony on vcd and found out the march past by Girl’s high School and St.Joseph’s convent’s was as good as old days & used to be some 20-25 years back and the prize distribution by current ex football player Gaulan currently MLA from Kalimpong was surprising(I am sure you played football with him too!)but his looks, i found was little uptight maybe keeping his pride & I saw Sonam Sir & Bhanu as well, other than that weather was foggy and ground was so wet most probably due to overnight’s soaking rain,(what new?) it was so fun and felt like was standing in the crowd….

Hi,
I’m from the UK. I did some volunteer work in a school at 20th Mile. I had a great time there and everyone was lovely. Check out http://mondochallenge.org/ if you’re interested in seeing what else is happening there. Lotus Academy is in need of £450.00 for new toilets, so I’m sure the kids will be delighted to hear that former residents hvae been generous.

how can I forget Kalimpong, I still remember those times when I used to walk up the novelty cinema road and on my left would be the view of ‘taare bheer’ some even called ‘khukuree bheer’. then from the thana dara area the huge landscape of terraced sloping hills, the reli khola, far away sindebong, down below the mela ground where such memorable soccer clashes were held. breathtaking view of kanchenjunga , view from durbeen dada … and yes the momo and tongba which you can never find anywhere else . . . oh ! I get so nostalgic …

Let me convey my earnest advise to all my honest Kalimpong folks .
Sun 27 July 1986 massacre at Kalimpong happened due to the instigation by Subash Gheising who was staying comfortably in Darjeeling and even now. The government of India hushed up and corrupted Subash Gheising to deceive the straightforward people of Kalimpong. I appeal to respected Bimal Gurung and all my beloved Kalimpong folks that the best way for progress of Kalimpong is to merge with the State of Sikkim. Let Subash Gheising and Darjeeling keep playing around . For Kalimpong the best policy will be to stay away from Gheising’s nonsense.

Well. how long is the general descent people of this great place is going to suffer with another movement… we had enough and its always Kalimpong that gave the momentum of the Gorkhaland movement what did we get in return? The improvement was always focussed on Darjeeling. Its high Mr. Ghising should do something for the people of Kalimpong…Secondly whoever murdered the great leader late C.K Pradhan he should be brought to book…. He was a great Mama to the whole Kalimpong. May his sould rest in peace.

I appeal to all the youngsters of Kpg not to get involved in any activities using force. GNLF is a corrupt gang and is not at all for the welfare of the people specially kpg. Now there is one other thing - this is not the 80’s or 90’s where use of force was not taken very seriously. Now the terrorist tag ma be applied once weapons are involved and civilians are harmed and terrorised.
Even if the weapon is a simple khukuri, it is still a weapon which can terrorise normal human life.
This is after Sept 11, 2001. The world is fighting terrorism, be it for a local cause or international, a terrorist is still a terrorist. There is no place to hide like the old days. There is super high tech to even smell you out from anywhere you try to hide.

This is a wonderful site, it brings back so many happy memories, I was a josephite batch of 1980 so if there are any josephites from my batch please ctc me at d.chozom@yahoo.com. some of my class friends that I remember are diki dolma, samdup butia, anjula lama, marina namchu, the rest I don’t remember anymore becoz its been a long time, the last time I was in kpg it was 10 years ago so a lot has changed but kpg is always the best. By the way powfa(emmanuel liang)maybe u don’t remember me but I do, u used to date anjula lama from my class and u had a shoe store just below the girls high school “wanley and sons’” right, well its a long time but its nice to know u r doing fine. I have been in nyc for the past 20 years and can’t wait to go back to settle there for good. chao kpg
